hello, there. it's been a mostly sunny start to the day. we've had one or two showers to the south west of england, south and west wales so far this morning. but for most with that sunshine, it's warming up already. that was the scene earlier on in brighton. now, as we go through today, the sunshine will continue for most of us. still the odd shower down to the south west of england. we've lost that nagging cloud across eastern england, perhaps still a bit of cloud around the north sea there, around eastern scotland. but with the sunshine, temperatures getting up into the mid to the high 20s, 30 degrees celsius possible anywhere really from parts of greater manchester through the midlands and into the south east of england. but as we go through this afternoon,
10:58 am
showers will start to develop and look at these bright colours here and look how small these showers are. they'll move their way up from southern england through the midlands, up into the northeast of wales, towards merseyside, very hit and miss, these showers. but if you catch one of those, you could see some hail, some thunder, some gusty winds and the risk of some localised flooding as well. a lot of rainfall in a short space of time. now through this evening, those showers will continue to drift their way northward, some coming into northern ireland as well. but generally speaking tonight, it's going to be largely dry and clear, but still quite warm and muggy, actually. even by 10 o'clock this evening, temperatures in london, birmingham and manchester over 20 degrees celsius. as we go into the early part of sunday morning, these are the minimum temperatures. so still pretty muggy across southern areas, 15 or 16 degrees here, perhaps a bit chillier, a bit fresher around those eastern coasts. now, throughout sunday, a few showers across scotland, on the whole dry and sunny to start off in the morning, bit of patchy
10:59 am
mist and fog in the southwest. but showers and thunderstorms will once again start to get going as we head into lunchtime and during the afternoon, a risk of those just about anywhere, really. but again, they will be hit and miss. temperatures once again for most getting into the mid to the high 20s and again, we could see 30 celsius once again. now into next week still the risk of one or two showers, but generally speaking, high pressure will dominate and will have a southeasterly wind and that will bring even warmer weather. well, the warmer weather will continue, i should say. temperatures still mid to high 20s, heatwave criteria actually for some parts of the uk. still, though, the risk of one or two showers and thunderstorms as we go through the week. but generally speaking, dry with lots of sunshine. bye— bye. live from london — this is bbc news... former british prime minister boris johnson quits an mp — saying he was forced out in a witch—hunt.
