1:01 am
into why the delaware attorney office blocked or slow walked the investigation into hunter biden. courtesy of the investigation, we know that at least one top attorney in david weiss's office had close personal and professional ties to the biden family. hmm. meet alexander mackler, grad of william and mary law school. linkedin page says he appears to have spent years working in the delaware office, including during the months of an investigation of hunter biden. was he really that close to the bidens? not at all. he was pres secretary for senator joe biden, legal counsel for vp joe biden and in 2010, only the manager of the late bo biden campaign for delaware ag, before joining weiss's office as
1:02 am
they kicked off the investigation into hunter biden. it gets better. mackler worked on the biden transition team and wait for it, helped create blueprint for its department of justice. in other words, mackler was involved in almost every in biden political life yet. >> ironing board with shirt rack and a generator, language translator, and mascot out fit. >> laura: there is more, according to the washington examiner, mackler had a close personal relationship with hunter biden. e-mails found on hunter's laptop, mackler corresponded with hunter biden and referred to hunter as a brother.
1:03 am
now while that was convenient, having mackler in weiss's office and we learned from daily mail about mackler's connection with leslieshg wolf, assistant attorney accused by irs whistleblowers of stymieing the hunter biden investigation, even though evidence showed important links between father and son there. again, just another biden coincidence, i'm certain. while serving for the office that was investigating hunter biden, he checked in with him. remember crack cocaine and prostitute vengeance. mackler wrote, love you, hope you're good, call me sometime and october 2018, he asked
1:04 am
hunter how life was and said, give me a call sometime and we can catch up and ended the e-mail with love you, brother. he was still working in the u.s. attorney's office at that time. was there any concern in the office about wolf's ties to mackler while investigating hunter biden? source close to the delaware probe told daily mail mack ler worked with wolf on one case and the two were friends and the source said there were concerns about wolf's concerns to the ex-biden investigator and their collegiate relationship was referred to the designated agency ethics office for weiss's office. we don't know what came of that, though. mack ler visited the white house five times since joe biden became president, according to visitor logs we have. this included one-on-one with biden campaign manager and with
1:05 am
the president himself in april of 2022. hmm. clearly the vinn diagram of intersecting characters from biden's political slop and investigating team raise at the very least appearance of such conflict of interest and weiss should have moved wolf off the team entirely given this. it is another reason that weiss's own credibility and credibility of this entire hunter biden probe is damage beyond repair. nobody trusts it. all of this must be pursued in serious questions of mr. weiss on capitol hill and i think it is yet another reason that we desperately need the appointment of a special counsel to review the biden family involvement with all the foreign business interests during his time as vice president and that's the angle. joining me is congressman james
1:06 am
comer, chairman of the house oversight committee. the new details that you have known about alexander mackler, for me, as former defense attorney, are stunning. what am i missing here in the way i laid this out? >> you laid it out perfectly, laura. the conflict of interest with weiss are never ending. it is a joke. you go back to how he was appointed and democrats say he was appointed by trump. i can tell you in kentucky, regardless who the president is, mcconnell gets a say who gets appointed because senate confirms all of these and they work on confirmation and always try to have an agreement on who the u.s. attorney is. if you go back in time, weiss was appointed by obama for a position long before he was
1:07 am
appointed by trump. the argument is no good. what the facts are, this u.s. attorney had all sort of conflicts of interest. if i can ask weiss one question, it would be this, why did you not share the fbi form 1023 with the irs investigators who were investigating the bidens for suspicious wire transactions from ukraine. you have a credible source of evidence in the fbi that the president took a bribe and you have irs officials who worked for years investigating suspicious transactions, why would you not share that information? we learned in the hearing last week that the irs agents never got the fbi form alleging joe biden took a bribe. >> laura: there is some reporting that when weiss comes to testify, it may be prudent to have him testify with an
1:08 am
individual who might be in conflict with what he says almost in realtime. that may be unconventional, but would that be something you are going to consider? >> i would definitely consider it. oftentimes when someone like weiss comes, you let them have the hearing alone, but in this situation, i mean, he has a lot of explaining to do and with all the evidence it suggests he's completely botched this hearing at best, or participated in a major cover-up at worst, we need to explore every option for the american people to get the facts. >> laura: the media wants everyone to believe, i call them the regime media, there is nothing at all tying joe biden to hunter biden's business dealings and they're still at it. watch this. >> irs whistleblowers made
1:09 am
insinuation of improper activity and talk about payments with foreign countries hunter biden has been entangled in. nobody provided evidence the president was directly involved and acted improperly as part of this. >> laura: congressman, is there any evidence that suggest joe biden was directly involved in hunter biden's business dealings? >> yes, there is lots of evidence. there is pictures, e-mails, text messages, what's app messages, testimony we received, now we're entering the deposition and transcribed interview phase where people like devin archer who actually know what level of involvement joe biden had in the family dealings, they will be able to come under oath and tell us exactly what role joe biden played. i don't think anyone in america who has paid attention to this investigation believes that the president's son had the ability
1:10 am
to tell these foreign nationals to wire to shell companies millions of dollars so his family could take it and launder to nine different family members. i think everyone realizes this had to be from joe biden. look at all what the white house is saying, they changed their story in the last 24 hours for fear of what devin archer is going to testify next week. they are saying joe biden was never in business with his son. that is not what they have been saying, they have been saying he had no involvement, never communicated with his son, that is what they said for years and years and ahead of this interview we're going to have, they change their story. >> laura: congressman, we'll be following it closely. thank you. >> no evidence of any wrongdoing by the president. and mr. mccarthy knows that. this is all everything in upside down because the former
1:11 am
president, who was so corrupt and crude and base and engaged in such criminal activity, now we're going to try to deflect. >> laura: that was congresswoman dean responding to james comer about the case against joe biden. she is a liar like joe biden. here is what we know. confidential human source brought information to the fbi that ties joe to the bribery scheme when he was vice president. as congressman just eshg lewded to, the what's app message when he was sitting with his father. and hunter biden's former business partner devin archer will reportedly claim joe was on two dozen calls directly tied to foreign business dealings when he was vice president. that doesn't even get to the whistleblower testimony,
1:12 am
alleging interference in his son's prosecution. despite all that, the litany of what seems to be on the surface, the standard is phone call for zelenskyy, for impeachment and this is not impeachable. come on. i have a warning for gop, tantalizing as this is, be careful of making joe biden out to be a victim, a martyr heading intoure 22. not to say he doesn't deserve top scrutiny and needs to be removed from office. he does. that might best be left to the voters. joining me is former deputy independent counsel. saul, where do you stand given what seems to be a building real dossier of real information showing joe biden ties to hunter and his business dealings is this best time to proceed with
1:13 am
impeachment proceedings against joe biden? >> laura, i agree and i don't think we are quite there yet. i think there is real danger of backlash and sympathy for president biden, but we're getting closer with every new revelation that comes out and the devin archer looks like it is the latest. you have a number of things. you have got -- i want to make one point clear, the president and his defenders say he never interfered in the hunter biden investigation. when he says i'm confident my son has done nothing well and he will be cleared, he interferes. gave a social call to the delaware office when his son was being investigated, interference. when two hand-picked political u.s. attorneys, one in washington, d.c. and one in los angeles, turned down david weiss and said we're not going to let
1:14 am
you prosecute hunter biden in our district, that is political interference. as things build up, we're getting closer to the point, i agree, there is a real danger of moving too quickly. investigate all you want. don't call it an impeachment yet. >> laura: speaker mccarthy was discussing his call for potential impeachment inquiry earlier today. watch this. >> you have the president saying one thing we know is not true. you have irs whistleblowers saying something when it comes to government treating the bidens different. you have an informant claiming the biden family had been bribed. should you ignore that? or should you investigate that? the only way you can investigate that is through impeachment inquiry. >> laura: sol, is that the case, to get to facts needed in this case, closely bank records tied
1:15 am
to joe biden himself or other family members, do you need that inquiry to go forward? >> you obviously do not, congressman comer has been successful in finding the bank records that show laundered money that went to the biden llc's. it is significant the president said he never discussed business with his son and they are now pulling back on. on the question of co-location, great area, this question of the what's app call where hunter says i have my dad sitting here with me, great example of the intersection of impeach, possible impeachment and the interference because the agents, remember the whistleblower said, can we do co-location and find out if we're sitting next to each other at that exact time
1:16 am
and no one will ever know, that is routine law enforcement and the doj prosecutor said no, we're not going to do that, no reason at all. >> laura: sol, do you have a problem that wolf, assistant district attorney was pals with biden political person working in the same u.s. attorney's office, mackler, who had practically every position throughout biden's recent political career from back to the senate. >> i have a problem with this case and this falls on former attorney general barr and you know i'm a huge fan of his, but t this -- to delaware and it was ag barr who sent this to delaware. >> laura: mistake. there was no venue there, it is tiny incestuous district and
