the bay this morning. love to see a crystal clear morning. now temperatures are chilly again, but not as cold as the past few days have been. we do have freeze advisories and frost warnings this morning. so we're doing pretty well. santa rosa at 35 right now. sounds familiar, dublin livermore as well as saint helene, a sonoma nevado, all other areas that are in the 30's. but at this point, you had a good practice. just put those warm puffy jackets on and you'll be good as you're getting outside. winds still breezy on through the delta fairfield and vacaville 20 miles per hour winds. most of us are on the calmer side of things. we do have offshore showers. this is not going to impact the bay area, but a few of us up in mendocino and northern sonoma county seeing a few light rain droplets. the rest of the bay area is just starting off. mostly cloudy. those showers. they're going make their way southward out of the region. so it's not really something we're going to be dealing with rather. we're just going to see increasingly clear skies, mostly cloudy to start, but a nice and mostly sunny afternoon. just around the

corner and daytime highs in the low 60's later on today, talking even warmer weekend. and then rainfall chances into next week, all still to come right now. all right, john, thank you for that. let's check on those bridges. hey, it's 04:00am. so it's still pretty light. >> 7 minutes mace to that free missouri exit traveling into the city. our san mateo bridge 80 to 101 about 13 minutes traveling across towards the peninsula. you're richmond, sandra fell bridge 8 minutes there and the golden gate bridge. 37 to the totals taking 19 minutes. well, at least one person is dead, another in custody after a fatal stabbing of freeman thursday. that incident happened around 04:00pm with a person reporting an altercation between 2 men. officers arrived and found a man on the ground with severe injuries. he was later pronounced dead at that scene. a suspect has been arrested and there's no threat to the community at this time. well, police are looking for the mother kidnapped her 2 year-old daughter. the child was found safe at a relative's

home in oakland. police say crystal mendez of ducked it. the child from her ex husbands home in san jose. investigators say mendez and known drug user and has no legal custody of her daughter. mendez was last seen wearing a white hooded jacket, black, skinny jeans with rips, knees and dark colored sneakers. she also has a tattoo of dante on her neck. and we're going to have more on this story as the day goes on. well, san francisco police double down on keeping its streets free of workers. police revealed a new enforcement strategy to keep work from happening on cap street. kron 4 sarah stinson talk with the assistant police chief and has those details for us. >> sfpd assistant chief david luiz are says they've been finding success with the new d coy operation. that's where a female officer goes out on to cap street pretending to be a worker and then issues a citation to a potential client or john have a lot of workers

that are on capped that we 18 18th and 22nd street. >> and you have a lot of vehicle traffic and people are out a lot of noise associated with that sfpd assistant chief david luiz are describing what he saw last friday night when he walked cap street. >> the san francisco police department is cracking down on john's coming to cap street. the most recent d coy operation took place on february 15th. here's video from that night. police issued 7 citations to from. >> half moon bay, one from palo alto and 4 from san francisco who came to our city and came to cap street for the purposes of soliciting workers going to be hard for a john to explain to their family why they received a citation cap street once a john is cited, they are referred to the first defender prostitution program where they allow individuals who solicit. >> workers to go to a class and pay a fine. so that is definitely an option. but

sometimes we find individuals have arrest warrants and that case will actually physically take them under arrest. police say so far no citations have been given to workers. these are human trafficking victims for the most part and what we're going to focus on is getting resources to these individuals to see if we can get them out of this lifestyle to stop the behavior barriers have been put on cap street as another strategy to prevent john's from cruising the area for workers supervisor hillary ronen's for did that after receiving several complaints from people who live there, many of the barriers put in place have been run over by drivers. so the city plants but stronger barriers out within the next week. meanwhile, the police department has motorcycle patrols issuing traffic citations issued approximately 30 citations since. >> last friday night, we have our traffic officers on motorcycles that are out there now will also focus in on who are engaged in human trafficking. as far as putting women out of workers the with

could not say about how much the case because of the gag order issued by the judge, a kron four's legal analyst steven clark says that's because the shooting has received national attention, which could make it very difficult to find an impartial juror in san mateo county. if that's not possible. clark says the defense could request a change of venue in another county to ensure that zao gets a fair case now scheduled to be back in court on may 3rd. coming up on the kron 4 morning news. we're talking about tesla now issuing a recall for one of their most iconic features. we have details on that after the break. >> and local lawmakers in ohio. are talking about the federal government's response to that toxic train derailment. we'll talk more about that with that.

john, how should they prepare today? but what we are definitely off to another cold start this morning, we've got chilly temperatures down in the >> you know the drill. they're definitely get those jackets ready to go. those layers to keep cozy. we are looking at another clear morning. no fog out there whatsoever. it is a mostly cloudy, start them have this low pressure area sending to the west of us. it's barely clipping pass the bay area and is currently resulting in a few showers in the mountains of northern sonoma county on up into mendocino county, not going to do so for the rest of us, though, this low is going to trend further southward and high pressure. ridge is actually going to build in further. this is going to keep us dry and mild with increasingly sunny skies into the afternoon. futurecast showing you just that cloud cover this morning. but clearing towards the afternoon today, saturday and sunday bringing of sunshine in both days are going to be warmer as well with daytime highs both saturday and sunday climbing as warm as the mid 60's. now,

as far as today goes mostly low 60's, it is a warm-up for san francisco. those low 60's returning even daly city in half moon bay getting in the mix while burlingame at 61 degrees today, foster city down through mountain view each at 62 south bay. temperatures in the low to mid 60's. san jose. a really nice 64 for you. pair. well with increasingly sunny skies later today, oakland and concord at 62 for your daytime highs. believe how an app of much the same. well, santa rosa at 63 today. now, as i mentioned tomorrow and sunday, getting even warmer some mid 60's. lots of sunshine. really nice weekend to take full advantage of monday. stays dry and in the 60's. but after that, we start to reverse course tuesday. we're still good but drop into the 50's wednesday. windier conditions chance of showers in the evening and then showers really start to increase towards thursday. onward into next weekend. the following week after that. so really enjoy these next several days of dry weather before the change on the

right. some lawmakers are criticizing the federal response to this toxic train derailment saying that help from washington is too little. >> and came too late. >> 2 weeks after a train derailed in east palestine, ohio releasing toxic chemicals into the air and water and forcing more than 2000 residents to evacuate. epa administrator michael regan is on the ground telling residents that washington stands ready to help the community have questions and they deserve >> i want the community to know. we hear you. we see you and then we will get to the bottom of this. regan says the federal government has set up 24 7 air monitoring and is working to ensure the health and safety of the community. all families there. >> access to clean air and but ohio republican congressman j d vance says he's not confident the water is safe. i think that the epa administrator wants to stand here and tell people that the tap water is safe.

bay, sonoma county, they're ending their covid emergency declaration by the end of the month because their health officer explains it falls in line with the state's expiration because covid-19 case rates are low compared to the last 2 winters. many people are either vaccinated or they already had covid. this means county clinics could close and people can instead turned to their primary care providers and most pharmacies for future

vaccinations. >> not seeing the kinds of covid rates or severe negative outcomes like hospitalizations or deaths that we've seen in the past couple of years. i think most experts agree that we are all living the covid now. in other words, it's a lot like other respiratory illnesses. >> well, with the end of the county issued emergency, that also means that patients with medical need to renew role after march. 11th because it will not automatically do so like it did during the pandemic. san francisco also plans to in their covid-19 public health emergency february. 28. but 2 new health orders will require staff members and health care and gel settings to continue wearing masks. well, president biden says there's no indication that the 3 objects shot out of the sky last weekend. hat surveillance capabilities. defense officials have been on pretty high alert since a suspected chinese spy balloon traveled over the u.s. earlier this

you possibly can. we've really got some beautiful weather to look forward to the next several days. >> and this is before a big change of pace into the end of next week. that will bring the return of rain falls. that means you have to savor this weekend. a whole lot extra now. right now, the east bay hills camera showing you the clear skies. we have not looking at a foggy start, but another cold start. we're in the 30's for areas like san mateo, redwood city, down through mountain view, fremont on inland over to livermore and dublin and even half moon bay at the coast. also up in the north bay petaluma and santa rosa down at 35 degrees right now. sonoma all the way down to 33 degrees. so definitely a chilly start. not quite cold enough for frost advisories and freeze warnings, though, breezy out of the delta as well as at the coastline. most of us are on the calmer side of things this morning. we do see some offshore showers resulting in just a few sprinkles right along the coastline in sonoma county on up into mendocino county. these are going to skirt right past the bay area, though. so we're not really looking at the potential in the bay area today.
