lot going inside coliseum. we have about one hour into and some people they have to go inside because they want to make sure that they get that last experience of the calls him. a lot of people coming to the coliseum. and so it's emotional for them. but the people out here said they don't feel like they're missing a thing that rather be out here in the crowd. and this is all set up by the hogan. 68 as well the last dive bar boycott is to send that message to john fisher and everyone, you know, saying this is very bittersweet. excited to be out here, excited to have the energy of the 80's. but unfortunately, this very well could be the last opening day at the coliseum. take a listen to one coliseum. says 77, 76, got games and just years, you know, like some of the games.

moving in and apparently they're about to get serious about pounds on the bay area. but not before we squeeze in a nice night at the ballpark. if you're headed out the game tonight should be a good time to get out there. you see those clouds rolling on by. but yeah, overall, i think the rain is going to hold off for now and we're going to be talking about some decent weather conditions in the high country. clouds going continue to float on by temperatures. upper 50's out there game time 707. first, the guardians for tonight. in the meantime, though, yeah, we do have plenty of clouds moving on through right now. we're still waiting for that next storm. that's off the coastline. these clouds from the previous mother floating through even a couple scattered showers still popping up around the bay area. most that it's fairly light out there right now. but you can still see a couple of scattered pop up showers out there. so don't be surprised if you head out the door and you happen run into one. but it will be really overnight tonight that things get going. you can see this area of low pressure developing off the coastline. look at all those white clouds and you see that little swirl in the atmosphere that is going to be an intense low. the camps right off the coast for tomorrow. we're

talking about a very stormy day tomorrow, especially about the middle of the day in the afternoon. watch out. now we will see some heavy rain and some gusty winds. but tonight, if you're stepping outside yet couple skies. scattered showers are a few sprinkles. otherwise temperatures are in the 50's. so that is tonight. a man was hit and killed by a car on highway 101 in san jose. >> that crash caused traffic to be backed up 5 miles. it happened about 3.30, this morning on northbound 1, 1, near berryessa road mckee road. the chp says the victim was walking in the slow lane when he was hit. the driver is cooperating with officers. another former employee at the federal women's prison in dublin was sentenced. >> for sexually abusing multiple inmate nakea nunley of fairfield will serve 6 years in federal prison after being convicted of multiple counts of abuse. prosecutors say that not only abused 5 women and he was assigned to supervise engaged in acts with

2 women and also threatened a victim with transferring her to another facility. nunnally joins 6 other former prison employees including the former warden, the associate warden and captain who have been convicted in this scandal. former windsor mayor dominic foppoli in sonoma county will not face criminal charges for assault at. >> least not at this point. that's a decision from the california attorney general's office that his angered and disappointed the string of women who came forward to accuse him nearly 3 years ago. harper's catherine heenan live for us in the newsroom with the latest on this captor. yeah, 9 you might remember officially came forward accusing the wine country, politician of everything from groping to rape. but there are reportedly more than a dozen women who have made accusations and not all of the stories were made public. what they are now hearing from the attorney general's office, the criminal investigation into dominic foppoli has been suspended.

>> it is disappointment. it's triggering anger, sadness, attorney tracy korea represents 7 of the women who say they were sexually assaulted by former winter mayor. >> dominick for poli women who would hope there would be criminal charges. but today's statement from the attorney general's office means for now at least that is not happening. the office released a statement saying at this time we don't have enough evidence to warrant filing charges on the case is not barred by the statute of limitations. however, our investigation remains open. we urge anyone who believes they may be a victim or who has evidence to come forward. korea puts part of the blame on the investigation conducted by the sonoma county sheriff's department pointing, for example, to the search of foppoli's home in november of 2021, a search warrant wasn't done until approximately 7 months after the initial report.

>> and i find that inexcusable. the sheriff's office from the beginning, i felt was for some reason protecting mister. the poli th accusations of assault range between 2002 2021, including 4 women who say for poli assaulted them while he was mayor for polly has denied any wrongdoing, insisting that all encounters were consensual this was a statement he made in april of 2021, i have my head held high because i know deep in my heart that have done nothing criminally wrong and will eventually be cleared. >> for polly resigned as mayor of windsor in may of 2021. after a series of newspaper stories detailed the allegations he has reportedly since moved to italy regardless of what happens to the criminal case. says it is fortunate for her clients that a civil lawsuit continues to move forward. it doesn't matter that the sheriff's

office failed them in a criminal case. >> because our civil case trends independent any failures by law enforcement agency. we asked the sheriff's department for a comment. we have not yet heard back. there are reports. meantime, the for polling might soon return to california. >> we have not been able to reach him. can it? >> thank you, catherine. the 4 largest oakland employers blue shield of california. clorox kaiser permanente and pg and e have all announced a new 10 million dollar safety strategy. companies are collaborating on a security enhancement program as they call it to improve public safety while protecting their collective employees. earlier this year, the companies hired security guards to escort employees to and from bart parking garages in nearby businesses. the companies say the new plan is designed to complement and augment the recent efforts for mayor sheng thao oakland police and governor newsom to address crime, especially in the downtown area.

>> the number one cause of death in children in california is, you know, being hit by a car will now a bay area legislator wants to make that less likely to happen, especially around schools. kron four's dan kerman reports. >> across the nation, school speed zones vary. but california is one of a handful where they can be as high as 25 miles per hour. we're doing everything we can to get more and more students to walk and bike and roll the school. but we need to create a safe environment for them to be able to do that. and it doesn't matter where you live in california, every student deserves that. that right to safety. at a news conference thursday outside councilman elementary school in campbell. but low park state assemblyman marc berman introduced new legislation which would drop california school zone. speed limits to 20 miles per hour or less. the bill would also replace the when children are present coffee at with specific times. no longer will. we asked drivers to take their eyes off the road and search for whether there's a child president because after

kron four's theresa tells u.s. felony arrests are up. 62 1% from last year. >> bart police chief kevin franklin saying that he's applauding this new data saying that it is a reflection of the hard work that our police officers have been doing to try make the system safer. take a look at this. you need to see these pictures. this is an example of some of the illegal guns confiscated during arrests in total. bart police say officers took and 49 illegal handguns that is up from 40 in 2022, it's the most guns bar police have ever recovered in a year. officers making 726 arrests and 2023 compare that with 448 in 2022, the department says that is a 62% increase in arrests. bart police chief kevin franklin saying, quote, since we started deploying more patrol officers to ride trains. we have seen an impact and our riders are telling us that

yesterday, crews recovered the bodies of 26 year-old doorley casteel cabrera. >> and 35 year-old alejandro hernandez, fuentes, authorities say that they were found in a pickup truck submerged. 25 feet in the water. meantime, the biden administration says it's working to ensure the payne of the bridge collapse doesn't ripple through the economy. federal authorities are scrambling to reroute shipments heading to the port of baltimore. meantime, the ceo of the american association of port authorities says that consumers should not be concerned that the price of goods will spike and that it would take between 3 to 6 weeks to make the channel passable. little closer to home this year is expecting another round of heavy snow through the holiday weekend. 6 resorts are extending the season through april. our country's gayle ong a checked with those at the resort. and she joins us now live in the studio with some the tail scale. >> yes, at kirkwood mountain resort, extending the season through the end of april and

palisades tahoe will be open until may. so that is 2 months of skiing and writing for them after a slow start to the season. >> springsteen is my favorite time of the whatever those warmer temperatures as one of the best times to learn how to write and and now anyone who wants to learn how to write in ski has until may at palisades tahoe resort, pr manager patrick lacey is looking forward to extending the season we receive 31 inches in the month of march were actually to our average seasonal snowfall. and we could possibly get there by the end of this motions are definitely a lot of excitement around the mountain right now. >> over at kirkwood mountain resort, the ski season is extending 2 weeks later until the end of april. general manager ricky newberry march kind of came in strong. we've got a bunch of snow to start the month. >> we had a week of some spring weather, some bluebird skies and some warmer temps.

and then i'm kind of mid month and has been the return of winter. so, yeah, the snowpack is healthy and the skiing and writing is top notch right now and looking forward to doing it for another month and more snow is on the way. this is a good system. this is cold, but anyone heading out to the sea want to caution safety periods of moderate to heavy snow in the forecast. >> prompted the national weather service to issue a winter storm warning director of communications for kelly past resorts. kevin coop cooper gets this reminder for drivers heading up this holiday weekend. make sure you still have those chains catch. you have that emergency road kit. make sure you fill your charger ev before you come up there. this is a winter storm will have impacts on i-80 highway 50 state route. 88. and bowed palisades in kirkwood are excited to showcase their spring events coming up. but coming up this weekend may be difficult. as you heard. >> cops say a from friday morning through easter sunday. just the pair be prepared for chain controls. caltrans. also reminding drivers who are

about it few more on the way, but they'll be more scattered. but we're waiting for this guy. hold on the storm off the coastline in the center of that area of low pressure getting camp right off the coast. and because of that, that's going to give way to some very intense snowfall in the high country. heavy snow, some gusty winds. this could be a strong spring storm rolling in snow level between about 354500 feet. and you can see maybe one to 2 feet of snow above 5,000 feet. maybe even more on that. maybe 3, maybe 4 feet of snow the crest there. so travel delays all but likely now in chain controls. you bet from time to time and gusty winds as the storm system comes on shore. what a storm warnings up across the western of the sierra nevada of weather advisories continuing across the high from 11:00am on friday all the way until ppsunday afternoon. so this is could be a long-term, a storm as it rolls on in. it is going to be on and off right through the weekend expected to pick up throughout the day tomorrow. turning to snow by tomorrow afternoon and evening. and then some heavy snow overnight friday into saturday with some gusty

winds. you got to be extra careful if you're traveling in the high country, not only to see snow there lake county also going to be looking at snow, maybe 3 to 6 inches there. just a ton of snow across the high country. they're going to be skiing all month long in april. guys looks like some very nice weather for that. as we'll see a return to some dry weather next week get up there this weekend. i think that's going to be treacherous up. yeah, you know, gets rough. unless, of course they right now unless they leave right now, they can be stuck in their cabin up there. just watching stone and a size. all right. coming up, the actor who was added to the list of people accused of being linked to that federal investigation. >> of music mogul p diddy.

>> ftx founder and palo alto native sam bankman-fried has been sentenced the 25 years in prison for a cryptocurrency fraud. the palo alto native was a tight in the crypto industry as ceo of ftx. but customers lost billions when his exchange collapsed last november. bankman-fried was convicted of fraud, conspiracy and money laundering. prosecutors say bankman-fried cost investors more than 10 billion dollars by misappropriating the money to cover his expenses which included purchasing luxury properties in the the judge says that he would advise the federal bureau of prisons to send him to a medium security prison or less near the san francisco bay area because he's unlikely to be a physical threat to other inmates or prison staff and his autism and social awkwardness with make him vulnerable to other

inmates in a high security location. actor cuba gooding junior has now been added to the list of names allegedly links to the federal sex-trafficking investigation involving music mogul. >> sean diddy combs, according to court documents, music producer rodney jones says gooding junior sexually harassed and assaulted him on combs yacht. in february, jones filed original lawsuit against combs alleging that combs forced him to procure workers and pressured him to engage in unwelcome acts with him. gooding junior's attorneys have not responded to the complaint, but these aren't the first allegations to surface against the actor back in 2022, he pleaded guilty to forcibly touching a woman in new york and made a deal to avoid jail time. still ahead tonight on kron for news at 6 alameda county district attorney pamela price requested. >> enhancement charges be dismissed against a former sheriff's deputy accused of killing a married couple. our
