families of homicide victims and survivors of crime gather for a healing vigil at lake merritt. >> from the area's local news station, you're watching the kron. 4 morning news at 7. >> good morning. thank you so much for joining us here on the kron. 4 morning news. i'm stephanie lin. it's sunday. april, the 28th. let's get your morning started with a look at the weather with dave sphar. good morning, dave. hey, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. pretty much starting things off. a pretty sunny to start for the first light, >> we do have some scattered bay clouds left over from the fog. just a touch there. but going into a mostly sunny afternoon and warmer temperatures. well in going to see some middle 70's pop. there you have it. some leftover fog moisture, if you will, here, but fairly dry upstairs. so once the atmosphere gets rocking later today, we'll see a lot of movement. everything's pretty much west to east. now on that reversion of everything you see in the pacific. so that means we go into high pressure and warm in those numbers up. so the 80's are coming our way by the middle of the week. the

winds are still active, though. want to make note of that. we don't see a lot right now, but expect that chilly onshore of the ocean is still believe very chilly. it's still thinking winner, even though we're starting a bounce in the spring. so that will provide cooling for the bay in the coast and somewhat chilly inland will provide some cooling. really 3 got the 50's going on for the east bay got some 40's up north. 53 san francisco. 51 for san jose. much warmer than we were from this time yesterday by a few degrees. if you'll notice. and the breakdown today puts us at 63 11 by 2. we're at 70. yes, breaking into the 70's. and we're breaking in the 80's in a few days. have more on that extended forecast for you coming up in a bit. 70. all right, dave, thank you. >> protest over the war in gaza continue a college campuses nationwide here in the bay area. students at stanford and uc berkeley have been camping out for days. trump was jack moment reports from stanford with the latest. well, students here at stanford have been protesting

for a little bit over. 48 hours now, but university administration tells us they've already sent letters to around 60 students, they say, are involved in these protests, telling them that camping here on campus is against university policy and could lead to a possible suspension or even a rest. and yet students here at stanford and uc berkeley tell me. >> they have no plans of stopping anytime quite saturday afternoon on stanford's campus. >> it's a weekend that newly admitted students can come tour. it's also the second day that dozens of students are setting up tents and making a bold requested their administration. >> we want we think that public support and the student support is crucial in being able pressure these institutions to do so. emily smith, a junior at stanford, says the big request is making the private college disclose any financial ties to companies that financially support israel. protesters here say it's a tough ask. i think they are stubborn to be quite frank. i think actively trying to crack down on student letters were sent to students friday telling them

that camping and stanford is illegal and they could face discipline or even arrest home. i think that's something students are taking day by day >> across the bay, a couple 100 people rallying for a similar cause. music and flyers. the same and islands yousef, the student at cal and says they have no signs of stopping their protest any time die earlier uc berkeley sent kron 4 statement saying in part we continue to carefully monitor the situation and to date there have been no disruptions of university operations. >> the school t lling us they have not called the police yet, but are prepared to do so. yeah, if you want a foot or anything, there's also that table up front. we have a ton of food, its let me also the crowd grows at stanford university. police cruiser watches on. >> carlos ramirez is a sophomore and says they will keep camping here as long as more students show up.

>> i people can sign up will be safe because and community and being and communing with each other. that's how we're keeping us safe. and there have been 0 arrests so far between the protests stanford and at uc berkeley. that's contrary to what we're seeing on the national scale at other colleges and >> universities. meantime, classes and at u c berkeley this past friday, meaning that those protests could be any quite soon. whereas at stanford, they are on the quarter system with classes lasting until june. we're in stanford jack moment. kron 4 news. antiwar protests continue on college campuses across the country. >> activists say they plan to demonstrate until their universities divest from all israeli interests. ucla pro-palestinian group set up an encampment in the quad. the school issued a statement saying they support free expression. meantime, heightened security measures remain in place around the usc campus for students in the graduating class of 2024. heartbreak is still sinking in about commencement. could cancellations on the east coast. a columbia university protesters camped out for a

10th day and are refusing to leave until their demands are met. pro-israeli demonstrators also gathered outside columbia university rallying for the release of the hostages being held by ham video from hamas shows keith siegel and he's an american israeli taken hostage more than 200 days ago. his family now begging for israel to help bring him home. for the latest infosmation on the israel-hamas war scan. this qr code on your screen. it will take you directly to our coverage online kron 4 dot com. new video of a helicopter rescue at no state park, san mateo county firefighters helped an injured hiker get home safely. they used a truck and a tv to find the hiker. they then lifted the victim through the trees to get them to safety. >> when the east bay police arrested a homeless man accused of attacking 2 people,

including piedmont's police chief. >> it started friday at ace hardware on grand avenue in piedmont. police say they got a call about an elderly man getting hit from behind the suspect identified as willie gomer ran next door. police say the suspect looked like he might be under the influence of drugs. they say he attacked officers. that's when police pepper sprayed and tased him. gomer eventually broke into a home and threatened the resident inside the suspect then ran outside and was confronted by police chief jeremy bowers government is to get into bowers police car. i was trying to keep the suspect from driving off by approaching him from the opposite side of the car. that's when the chief was attacked. goma was arrested on several charges. a person is recovering after being shot in oakland. officers responded to emergency calls on would still street around 2 saturday morning. they said a number of cars were struck by bullets. police say they were informed of at least one victim who took themselves to a hospital. a person is expected to

survive. the investigation is ongoing. also in oakland, families of homicide victims gathered for a healing vigil at lake merritt saturday. the group crime survivors for safety and justice hosted the event to marc national crime victims rights week lost loved ones were honored in a ceremony led by advocates calling for better safety strategies. >> that was things like without world. because my and there was people that were supportive everything that i've been through at a younger you know, maybe i probably would attempt to his work a little bit sooner. >> the group is calling on local leaders to invest in more crime prevention. oakland a's fans protesting the team's move to west sacramento next season. bay area native showed up in sacramento, head of the river cats game sharing how they feel about the relocation.

going on. yes, so this event is in its 12th year. see annual run for education is on the signature community event. a pleasanton partnerships in education where local nonprofit that supports on pleasanton unified school district's. so. >> it is on. it is super fun morning. we have a 2 mile a 5 k and 10 k race about to happen. we have runners walkers, strollers, the whole gamut of people out here. we also have over 40 sponsors out with who says got really fun carnival like atmosphere behind where people can wander around goodies and just have a great morning. yeah 100. this is the first time i've been here and i when i walked in, i notice that this is this is a big deal. there's so many a tense here venues here for people to check out. so tell us more about the different types of races happening today and then the venues that are here. yeah, we have bunch of races are 10 k in goes all

through the city and through some of our parks and our 5 cain r 2 mile go through the fairgrounds and under the downtown pleasanton arts, which is a really great experience and on our main street on which everyone really enjoys and you can walk, you can we awards for the our highest runners. but you you know, has anyone gets a medal at that? and so it's just a great participation events and we are sponsored by workday. so they have a huge 10 here. they also >> have a lot of their own runners come out support us in our we have a kids challenge to which is super fun. part of the morning is sponsored by pnc bank and all the kids run in little divisions there from like 3 to 10 years old. they run little. he's just a little forth a mile around the around the fairgrounds like we've got to get this in. this is for the school district as well yes. now this is our largest event of the year and is a huge fund-raiser for all the things that we do. so our foundation supports our librarians are intervention specialists and we offer student teacher grants every

>> new video out of nebraska shows hundreds of homes and businesses in suburban omaha in ruins after a destructive tornado tore through the area that tornado demolishing buildings, shredding trees and scattering debris as it plowed for miles along farmland and into subdivisions, displacing residents, news nation's that touches us has the details. >> residents of suburban omaha spending their saturday, sifting through the rubble after a vicious tornado tore through the area friday. we just came many areas of the county which can clearly be considered in my opinion, a disaster scene. people gathering to survey their homes now reduced to piles of lumber, knocked over fences and trees stripped to their skeletal remains very

unfortunate. many people have lost everything their homes. i've seen lawnmowers wrapped around trees. i've seen bicycles wrapped around trees. i've seen steel sticking walls of homes. thankfully, no casualties, only minor injuries are reported douglas county sheriff urging residents to secure their homes and stay home. please do not drive in impacted areas. not only are you causing traffic jams, but people can get hurt on the responses to these disaster areas. >> and they may require emergency services as well. and if the traffic is jammed and all the cars are parked in other side of the road, you could put them and and their loved ones at extreme risk. this tornado, one of more than 70 generated by this storm system. >> another one of which passed over eppley airfield on the eastern edge of omaha, destroying 4 hangar buildings with dozens of privately owned planes inside after hitting

the airport. the storm moved into iowa, destroying at least 40 homes as the national weather service works to assess the damage. millions of residents of the plain states are bracing themselves for more storms coming saturday. nws issuing a tornado warning for parts of western oklahoma and northwest texas calling the tornadoes large hail and wind gusts there, a particularly dangerous situation. >> and that was news nations to touches. invest reporting for us. just a tough situation out there. dave. >> yeah, and we're starting to enter into this typical type of pattern for the season. good morning everybody. and what we have going on this thing was actually on our coast just a few days ago, giving us a break in the warming weather and what you have generally speaking in, say, october through the winter months. this is where a lot of your severe storms tend to be. then you get to around april. may it moves up towards. >> oklahoma, arkansas. into missouri and then in july. and so for that up of michigan, minnesota, it's also said with

the jet streams, we have this low that goes over. the rockies really doesn't do much. comparatively speaking a little snow and all that. but then it gets over least side in grab. all this moisture from the gulf of mexico. there's the cold air from coming from canada. contrast in contrast is what we look for for weather. so what you see going on here is what the severe prediction center saying these are going to be the problem areas most likely in eastern texas for today. western louisiana. they could see some tornadoes going on there as well. you get further away and then it's less likely until you get to the marginal area. but still in these marginal areas, you can still get some rough weather sometimes associated with all about on the home front, a much cleaner picture her with all this. some left over fog clouds, you can see kind of trapped before the atmosphere start to get excited to move it around little bit here. 50's at this hour. you can see in the east bay 40's up north. 53 san francisco. 51 for san jose and our future cast for it's looking pretty good. why the traffic is now north of us as early as west to east and

we going have kind of a mild forecast next couple days and warming up a little bit more. so towards the latter portion of the week. so as you can see all the way into monday, looking pretty sweet that mostly sunny skies. they scrounge up moisture up in the mountains at all with daytime heating our winds, though they're going to be with us. and remember, the ocean is cold still so this isn't a contrast again brings in that cooler marine layer of moisture off to the east bay, certainly along the coast and that keeps the cooling effect in new fields inland as well. but those afternoon breezes, going to have a little bit more of that for tomorrow as well all the way through tuesday and that we're going to some of those winds as we get to the latter portion of the week. the sfo, they're having some construction delays about 45 minutes or so. mostly sunny and mild, cool, breezy 70 ish for the bay. meanwhile, mid 70's going on in london early part of the week. sunny and nice way to get to about 80 or so by the middle of the week, even into the lower 80's. we get to thursday that it's going to break into the weekend. but it looks like the rain is going hold off from our perspective. we'll see if the models

flip-flop on us, but it's looking pretty good. 64 san francisco, 69 for open 72 san jose. there you have your mid 70's now changing the color crayons here. but and up to the north bay. also some mid 70's just starting the warming phase because there is more to all right. well, we do like appreciate a slow warm-up. you betcha. all right. thanks so much to. >> well, san jose police are investigating after a woman was shot and killed near the downtown area. >> investigators say it happened in the area of north force and east saint james street some friday night. the victim was found in the street. police say the shooter ran from the scene. this is the city's 12 homicide of the year. and saturday marks one year since banco brown was killed outside of a walgreens in san francisco. this is the security video from last april. the private security guard involved claims brown was shoplifting during this confrontation. michael earl wayne anthony shop around as he tried to leave the business a second time. the da's office did not try anthony because he argued self-defense claiming

brown allegedly threatened to stab him. brown was later found to be unarmed. walgreens. the guard and the company that employed the guards were fined. brown, a black transgender man was an housed at the time and a volunteer organizer for the young women's freedom center. the center issued a statement saturday writing in part, quote, thank those life was worth so much more than what it was taken for in the face of adversity. he was resilient, incur, courageous. he fearlessly fought for the rights and dignity of trans people. a proposal to equip new cars with speed safety systems is moving forward in california, the bill was first introduced in january and would have mandated new cars made or sold in the state to have speed limiters. those systems would restrict cars from going more than 10 miles per hour over the speed limit after hearing feedback about the potential dangers of a physical speed limit or the bill was amended to only require visual and audio signals to alert drivers of excessive speed. the mandate would apply to half of new vehicles starting in 2029. and then all vehicles by 2032, the

bill now heads to the senate appropriations committee. bart service is suspended this weekend between rockridge station in oakland and the lafayette station. the transit agency is upgrading one of its tracks. free buses are available at impacted stations. part says to expect about a 20 minute delay. i closure is continue this weekend across the bay area. this is the 4th closure of the southbound lanes of i 6.80. and this is that was just a live look at the repayment project. you're taking a look at that's happening this morning. and that road will be closed from the i-580, and i-680, connector to plug in pleasanton down to koopman wrote. caltrans also sharing these images from highway 37 in the north bay, cruz repaving the westbound lanes this weekend. then each of the next 2 weekends, the eastbound lanes shut down for repaving highway 37 and interstate 6.80. are both expected to reopen by 4 tomorrow morning.

a new wildlife crossing over the 101 freeway is starting to take shape. caltrans released this new drone video showing the progress so far as you can see, multiple girders have been placed over the southbound lanes. but there's still a ways to go here. the southbound lanes of the 101 in decorah. hills remain shut down the next several weeks. the crossing is slated to be done by late 2025 or early 2026. still ahead on the kron 4 morning news. federal regulators are taking a closer look at tesla's autopilot system.

gap linked to more than 460 crashes after a nearly three-year investigation. the national highway traffic safety administration. now tesla's autopilot design, problematic. the agency sharing its investigation, found cars equipped with updated autopilot software had accidents that may have involved drivers that we're not paying attention to the road. and big news for california ev drivers, tesla superchargers are opening to non tesla drivers. governor gavin newsom posting on social media saying this thousands of chargers to california system. he said the state now has over 100,000 chargers available to ev drivers. up in the car rental company. hertz says it's lost nearly 200 million dollars after over investing in electric cars. this part of nearly 600 million dollars in total losses for the entire company. the company does plan to sell off a total of 30,000 evs later this year.

much for joining us this morning. let's get you started this half hour with a look at our forecast with dave sphar high their day. a good morning, stephanie. good morning. everybody got another flavor of spring coming your way. it will do it will more gradual this week climbing up those stairs to get to the 80's. but in the meantime. >> enjoy those pleasant 70's for today inland, including and we do have those onshore winds today that will keep conditions chilly at the coast, even with all the sunshine in even around the bay of it, stopping sfo briefly here. we do have some construction delays only about 45 minutes or so, but nothing really weather related. even though the fog bank back there. there's a quick look at the winds there kind of variable right now, but they will trend more onshore. and again, you'll feel that the coast and a little bit along the east bay shoreline, just a touch and that will be climate control. keeping the numbers down. just a touch 40's up to the north bay. we have 50's. meanwhile, the east, 47 for redwood city and 51 for san jose got a little bit cooling overnight because the clear skies we have been able to manage or top we did from yesterday. so it's a little

warmer this morning than it was this time from yesterday and will be so this afternoon. let's try 63 at 11 o'clock by 2 at 70 in our extended forecast. going to see some 80's on there. we'll check out your 4 zone with your sunday. looks like as well. stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> in the north bay, police arrested 2 minors accused of carjacking and robbing a person in vallejo. police say the victim was sitting in his car near holiday street and cassidy street on tuesday night when a man walked up with a weapon. the robber then drove off in the dodge avenger. 2 days later, officers spotted the stolen car. the chase ended in berkeley after the driver crashed into another vehicle. 2 miners went out of the car and across the highway before police arrested them. the suspects were booked into the solano county juvenile detention facility. a swat team in the east bay collected nearly a dozen guns after a husband threatened to kill his wife in their home. san ramon police say this all began on friday afternoon at a home on canyon lakes drive. first

responders were able to get the wife out of the home, but the has been barricaded himself inside of the property. the neighborhood was then shut down for some time. the man eventually came out of the home and was arrested inside. police found rifle, shotguns and handguns, 11 in total. in san francisco. the group together sf action is urging voters to support 2 measures that they say improve the mayor's ability to respond to the city's needs and cut red tape. they say is created by too much bureaucracy. city officials joining residents in chinatown saturday morning to push the reform package forward in the upcoming elections. >> doing here today is collecting signatures put about mister ford to help against remind the commission says some so that the lines of authority are clear and that we know who's actually response for the for the decisions that are being made and responsible for what we're seeing out on the streets. >> the group is actively gathering signatures to qualify the measures for the november ballot. uc san

francisco broke ground saturday on a massive 4.3 billion dollar hospital of the future project. the new building aims to increase its bed capacity at operating rooms and emergency care. a spokesperson from ucsf health says the project will create more than 1000 jobs and invest almost 20 million dollars in public transit improvements around the area. the 15 story building hopes to be up and running by twenty-thirty at the university's flagship campus. at the state capitol. a key legislative committee block legislation that would have forbidden state lawmakers and lobbyists from entering into non-disclosure agreements during bill negotiations. our capitol correspondent eytan wallace takes a closer look what the proposal called for. >> indeed, it's been mixed reaction here at the state capitol upon learning this bill will not advance clerk will open the road. we're looking at one of the most public parts of the legislative process, a formal

vote on the bill are 32 knows, find the merger process. but what the public does not always bill is crafted in negotiated behind the scenes when the public. >> a look at the laws being made. they deserve transparency. that's why bakersfield gop assembly member vince fong says he introduced assembly bill. 26 54. it would ban the use of non-disclosure agreements or nba's in the legislative process. in a nutshell in nba is an agreement between at least 2 people are parties binding them to secrecy, preventing them from disclosing specified information often deemed sensitive and confidential. fong's legislation would prevent lobbyists, lawmakers and state employees from entering into such an agreement when crafting a negotiating bills, proposal came up for a hearing in the assembly elections committee where he urged members to back the legislation. it is my biggest concern that we are actually trying to shield the public. >> for information and and from legislators as well. that is critical to our votes in to help laws are being made. and

so nda is being used in the lawmaking, a crafting of laws that that process has to be discouraged and eliminated. but the bill has its opponents, including the california restaurant association and the california chamber of commerce. they came out against arguing some bill negotiations require confidential discussions to build trust and create consensus confidentiality agreements between private parties can often help. >> to allow a difficult issues and difficult issues to be worked through between parties that don't necessarily always a great in the end. bush and has built the bill did not pass while the loan to republicans on the committee voted in favor of it. the democratic majority blocked the bill noting it was published only last week giving members little time to review it. this rushed process which necessitated expedited hearing by this committee. >> prevented this bill from receiving the level of scrutiny and the analysis that bills normally receive.

>> before being hurt as a disappointment, if nba's are going to be allowed to be used moving that's wrong. and so this bill is dead for this year. but every been told by several gop lawmakers, they want to see it reintroduced next reporting at the state capitol, a tonn wallace kron. 4 news. >> the new california bill requires public schools to provide halal and kosher meal options for students. the passing of the bill coincides with both the end of ramadan and the beginning of passover. both law and kosher diets are religious guidelines regarding a mix of food, preparation and ingredients considered permissible to use. the law goes into effect during the 2025. to 26 school year as schools where more than 5% of the student population express a preference for these types of food options. and new this morning, a driver who side pedestrian on a remote stretch of highway one lost his pickup truck on friday night. basically the pickup's driver alerted chp that he first saw the man on the highway near davenport when officers

arrived. the pedestrian, the person on the roadway ended up jumping into the truck and taking off. officers tried to stop the pickup. but the driver who was trying to steal the vehicle apparently evaded chp and fled into san mateo county, the san mateo county sheriff's office finally were able to stop the pickup by using a spike strip to flatten the tires. the driver was taken into custody. they are accused of felony evasion, possession of a stolen vehicle and assault on a police officer. well, there's less hustle and bustle in downtown san francisco these days. but one restaurant is not only surviving its thriving in this week's dine. and dish vicki liviakis takes us to sam's grill. one of the oldest restaurants in the country. >> step into sam's grill in the past butts up against the oil. prepared to experience the best of a bygone era. >> sam's open right after the gold rush with bartenders in

administration tells us they've already sent letters to around 60 students, they say, are involved in these protests, telling them that camping here on campus is against university policy and could lead to a possible suspension or even arrest. and yet students here at stanford and uc berkeley tell me. >> they have no plans of stopping anytime quite saturday afternoon on stanford's campus. >> it's a weekend that newly admitted students can come tour. it's also the second day that dozens of students are setting up tents and making a pull request to their administration. >> we want think that public support and the student support is crucial in being able pressure these institutions to do so. emily smith, a junior at stanford, says the big request is making the private college disclose any financial ties to companies financially support israel. protesters here say it's a tough ask. i think they are stubborn to be quite frank. i think they're actively trying to crack down on student letters were sent to students friday telling them that camping and stanford is illegal and they could face

ace hardware on grand avenue in piedmont. police say they got a call about an elderly man getting hit from behind. the suspect identified as willie gomer ran next door. police say the suspect looked like he might be under the influence of drugs. they say he attacked officers. that's when police pepper sprayed and tased him. but gomer eventually broke into a home and threatened the resident. the suspect then ran outside and was confronted by pima police chief jeremy bowers managed to get into bowers police car that was trying to get the suspect out by approaching the suspect from the opposite side of the car. that was when the chief was attacked. gomer was arrested on several charges. a person is recovering after being shot in oakland. officers responded to emergency calls on was still street around 2 saturday morning. they said a number of cars were struck by bullets. police say they were informed of one victim who took themselves to the hospital. that person is expected to survive. the investigation is ongoing. a person is

know that they've raised a million dollars so far and is going back to the pleasanton school district. we do want to show you some video of the race so far the pleasanton partnership in education run started back in 2012 and has been gaining steam ever since. well, last year they had around 2500 people signing up for the run, raising around $100,000, which went directly into the 2024. school year. it's their largest fundraiser of the year and serves to celebrate the community and encourages fitness. today they had a 5.10, k a 2 mile distance run. maybe it focuses its mission on on filling gaps where the school district can use more support. and broad based across our whole district says we support all 15 of our schools. 9 elementary's 3 middle into high schools on that goes to intervention. specialists librarians on the support. district-wide around the mental health area with counselors and support. and we also get out student teacher

>> good morning. welcome back to kron. 4 morning news, everybody. we're checking things out of half moon bay and they're your fog clouds. hang around a little bit here that will mix out. but we still have that chilly breeze and temperatures not to elevated this afternoon. still going to be the cool side. so definitely dress up with the sweater in the jackets and all that 50's for the east bay up north. we've got the lower 50's at work to 55 san jose. not about start russia little warmer than we were from yesterday. even with are clear skies and not much to deter that either in up in the mountains, not seeing much cloud build up either. now overnight, the marine layer gets thicken up a little bit. yeah, but we'll do the same thing. mix out forra sunny

afternoon will still probably be in the 70's for monday and even into tuesday. it's not a wednesday. we'll start seeing some warming and more decoupling happening with those inland spots. warming up a little bit more. so back to those winds. as i referenced nice, strong onshore wind taking that pathway of the least resistance from the golden gate off for work in a straight that's will be the most apparent little bit solano county to you can see the uptick, but particularly along the coast. and that's this afternoon. and it looks like it lingers all overnight, even through monday, too. so that will keep some of this fog clouds around a little bit. but more importantly will give that chill that cool feel because remember, even though we're warming up in london, all the other elements are trying to do so the ocean is behind it. still sitting in late winter here takes a time as water always does a specific heat and all that kind of business. so it takes a little while to catch up mostly sunny mild, a cool breeze, 70 ish for the bay. we've got mid 70's already happening inland. so little the couple in here then for the early part of the week, we're warming to about 8 or so mid week. enjoy it, sunny and nice for you. and then toward

joining us live now to talk us and talk about all of this. an office of guidance is nicole ybarra, kaiser permanente, director of mental health. the morning to you, nicole. >> good morning, stephanie. thank you so much for having me today of course. and it's so good to see you again of the cold just to start off here walk us through the impact that stress can have in our bodies and our lives. absolutely. so everybody is prone to having stress at one point or another. >> i think it's really important for us right by the source of our stress, right? is it racial? i stress? is that financially related? is that related to our educational pressures are to our health. what's really important to know that all has backed prolonged. exposure distressed can result in some bizarre call. challenges for our body. i'm high blood pressure, for risk for substance use disorder recent smoking drinking. i'm healthy eating habits, poor sleep. i'm

all of this can contribute to an increased risk for heart attack or stroke. so it's really important that we attention to the stress and our bodies and how it shows that before it gets to that point. yeah, absolutely. and self-awareness, of course, around this topic is so what are easy ways that you recommend that people? >> can approach people and content that they're exposed to on a daily basis that can trigger stress. >> i think checking in with our loved ones really asking people not just are you doing today, but really how are you doing today? you know, opening up space for people to really talk about what's on their mind, what's going on in their personal lives. and then also just checking in to ourselves. are we taking care of ourselves? are we getting some exercise? are we getting enough sleep? are we checking in with our own, you know, support systems, our friends and our family, our loved ones. are we eating, you know, helping good foods that share. bodies are reconnecting with our all these things can

really help and make an impact because, again, stress is inevitable, but we can control how we're reacting to stress before it gets to the point of really having some very serious health risks and it's interesting to how the concept of stress. >> has really evolved over the years. i think at the very beginning back when humans were kind evolving as a species, stress was considered a survival mechanism. but now because we are almost inundated with all these different information sources in content out there, stress levels seem to be elevated a pretty high level of it. is that something that you're seeing personally? >> and we're seeing it from so many different angles. you know, rarely do. we just have source of stress. oftentimes it's an entire collection. and so i think it's really important for us to notice, you know, in our own lives. what is it that we can control and what it that we cannot control? but you also bring up really good point, which, you

know, some mild, maybe to moderate cancer productive use, right? so, you know, if we're going into a job interview that were really nervous about, we have that stress. but that could also lead to ask, you know, performing well and being successful are passing that exam. so, you know, any kind of stressed is going to impact our lives. but we just really want to check in with our own body and mind. see how it's impacting us. and what is it that we need in order to feel safe in order to feel regulated. you also mention how diet can help address stress levels. are there? >> specific items that we should be thinking about when we go to the grocery store next. >> absolutely. i think it's really important to have a balanced diet, making sure that we have enough protein. we have enough fruits and veggies, making sure that we hydrates. you know, there's all those, you know, your diet is going on right now. sometimes that can really deprive our body of certain nutrients. so really making sure that we have a balanced diet. going to the grocery

store. >> in the cold. we also would like to ask you this, which is, you know, what's the best way people can identify triggers an unhealthy ways that we might be coping with stress and then replace them with healthier practices. >> yeah, i think just, you know, am i right drinking a little bit more than the normal and my way camp in the morning and feeling not my best. my feeling like, you know, i want to stand bad rather you know, bracing the day that israeli checking and what is shifting from me right now. i'm you know, maybe one moment kind of easier to reach for something that's going on last year. let's check out. but is that really going eliminate the stress rate? and also like you said, no to staying kind of what's triggering it are, you know, is my stress taking me into a place of have a fight or flight isn't making shutdown is a leading to potential symptoms of anxiety and depression and also just talking to somebody and you can absolutely reach out call coach called their get plugged

into mental health. have an assessment if you're really interested to see how is this impacting me? >> and just to wrap things up here to on say that somebody is just there, they're sitting. maybe they're at work, for example, and, you know, they're just feeling they're hit with a wave of it. is there. a quick and easy sort of exercise that they can go through ease themselves out of that stressful situation. >> i love mindfulness practices, deep breathing, grounding yourself. kind of back into the earth. a lot of the are triggered are having a stress response. we find ourselves kind checking out of the present moment. so find some kind of exercise that crowns you back to the present moment. that could be just, you know, painting your feet on that more friendly and kind of feeling your tolerance against the floor. could be just taking nice, deep quality breaths and reminding yourself that you are safe, that you are present and then just, you know, resting your shoulders, doing some stretching, just things to kind of bring you

back into the present moment, i think can be really helpful a moment when you're feeling overwhelmed. >> yeah, in our last 30 seconds era and mentioned that the at the top of this interview, you know, there is so much going on in the world right now. you have global global conflicts. people who are struggling financially because of inflation. a number of just day-to-day stressors. what's the message? this stress awareness month for folks who are feeling a lot of that pressure. >> i think the message is that it is really hard to take care of ourselves right now with everything going on. so my suggestions they're not easy ones. i think the really important ones. so i think it's just really important for us to validate our own feelings are on the motions, our own processes. what's going on is extremely heavy. there's so many pressures coming out us from so many different angles. so just know that you're alone. no, that's okay to reach out when you're feeling overwhelmed, whether that is to a professional, whether that is to your support system and is okay to reach out. and it is important because you're important. >> all right. great way to

>> a proposal put new cars with speed safety systems is moving forward in california, the bill was first introduced in january and would have mandated new cars made or sold in the state to have speed limiters. those systems would restrict cars from going more than 10 miles per hour over the speed limit after hearing but about the potential dangers of a physical speed limiter. the bill was amended

since banco brown was killed outside of a walgreens in san francisco. this is the security video from last april. the private security guard involved claims brown was shoplifting during the confrontation. michael earl, when anthony shop around as he tried to leave the business a second time, the da's office to not try anthony because he argued self-defense claiming brown allegedly threatened to stab him. brown was later found to be unarmed. walgreens. the guard and the company that employed the guards were fined. brown, a black transgender man was an housed at the time and a volunteer organizer for the young women's freedom center. the center issued a statement saturday writing in part, quote, bengals life was worth so much more than what it was taken for in the face of adversity. he was resilient and courageous. he fearlessly fought the rights and dignity of trans people. in the north bay, police arrested 2 minors accused of carjacking and robbing a person in vallejo. police say the victim was sitting in his car near holiday street and cassidy street on tuesday night when a man walked up with a weapon. the robber then drove off in

>> now to a pretty wild story. a family from the utah real this morning after their missing cat is found in riverside. but it's how the cat ended up in riverside. that's making headlines on april 10th. the family's cat disappear. they thought she run away. but then 7 days later, they got a call from a vet in riverside. that's 650 miles away, saying their cat's microchip to been scanned at their facility. the cat had jumped into amazon return. a package, i guess, box and have been mailed to return center in florida and california week. wow. well, the cat was trapped in a box for 6 days and when the amazon worker opened the return box, that's when they found the cat. so the cat was taken to that

local vet and that was able to get in touch with the owner. and aside from some slight dehydration, the cat is perfectly fine and back with its family this morning. but we we know that cats seem to have various very curious and they seem to like hiding in boxes. yeah, they're very clever. yeah, and i yes, great stuff. pictures on their cell that way. you know, las vegas no need for the cats to hide in boxes to do because not beautiful stuff going on. they're going to be they're going to either for though, a little bit. why because of winds, though, before we get to that, let's look at high temperatures today. >> that's great. and you can see the pattern about what's going on here because of inland heating mid 70's up in the north bay. >> south, a little bit too, but a lot of 60's around the perimeter of the bay. meanwhile, we're looking at chilly 50's towards the coast. that will be upper 50's but still chilly 50's and for the next at least 24 hours, we have this onshore wind that's kind of been place. we don't have any major weather systems in the backyard. but until that high builds, we do have the surface winds and they provide a little bit of extra
