cruiseship worker has been forced back to texas after being denied permission to dock in cozumel, mexico. placed in isolation after contacted by the c.d.c. officials. and the texas health officials ordered any person entering the room of thomas duncan not to travel by public transport including plains, ships, trains or buses, or visiting groceries or theaters for 21 days until the danger of developing ebola passes. and the nurse who arrived last night at the national institutes of health in maryland, doctors say she is fatigued but in good spirits. >> i cannot tell you at this particular time why we said fair because of patient confidentiality but she is resting comfortable. >> the travel ban protected the health care workers covering more than 70 people providing care to thomas duncan, the first

person to test positive for ebola who later died at texas health presbyterian. >> thank you for that. as mentioned before, the president tapped a new man to lead the government's response to ebola. health reporter and registered nurse, ali gorman has more on that as she continues our coverage from the c.d.c. in atlanta. >> the c.d.c. faced criticism about its response to ebola capeses -- cases in the united states. president obama appointed one person outside of this agency to now lead the response. ron klain appointed to be the u.s. ebola czar to lead the nation's response to ebola and present more cases to the deadly virus in the united states. he doesn't have a health care background but has extensive experience with the federal government. he served as chief of staff to vice-president joe biden and

said to be an effective coordinator, which is what the president says is needed. >> just for that after the initial surge of activity, we can have a more regular process just to make sure that we're crossing all the t's and dotting all of the i's going forward. >> my sole concern is to protect americans. >> the head of the c.d.c. faced tough questions on capitol hill about how two nurses were affected caring for duncan, the first person to die of ebola in the u.s. officials the texas health presbyterian said the nurses were protected by c.d.c. protocol but no training on ebola. >> no one ever spoke to me about ebola. i never witnessed any other discussions going on among my colleagues about, you know, what to look for, how to be prepared.

there were no classes offered. >> and that will be a top priority for the ebola czar to make sure that health care workers who are taking care of the ebola patients are properly trained and protected. reporting from atlanta, ali gorman, channel 6 "action news." meanwhile, we learned three people from pennsylvania were onboard that flight from cleveland to dallas with a nurse who since tested positive for ebola. governor tom corbett says those three people have been under observation in texas and have not been back home yet. none of them are showing any symptoms and they are not, repeat not under quarantine. philadelphia leaders laid out their plans for an ebola response today, including building an isolation chamber at the hospital at the university of pennsylvania for health care workers returning from africa. david henry will have more on that coming up in a live report when we continue our coverage at 4:30 this evening. we know people have a lot of questions about ebola, so we

tonight with a lot of stars and the lack of clouds. but that change is starting to push into the northern part of the great lakes now. international falls 46. and super st. -- sault ste. marie 50. and the unsettled weather coming up in the seven-day forecast. two people dead and a third man badly hurt after the head-on collision in newark, delaware. and you can see the force of the crash, what it did to both of the vehicles. shane colby and another were trapped in the wreckage for hours and died at the scene. both were 21 years old. a 48-year-old man from the second car went to the hospital in serious condition. state police are still trying to figure out what happened. it started with reports of someone hitting parked cars in norristown and ended with a wild chase and shooting involving police and a tractor-trailer.

john rawlins live at the norristown police station with more on what investigators are saying about this chaotic chain of events. john? >> this happened around 11:00 last night as the driver of the 18-wheeler was shot in the arm by police. he is identified as a 46-year-old man from north jersey. and we are told at this point he has had at least one prior run-in with the law. following a chase, armed officers had the big rig and its driver stopped near main street. >> the operator raised his hand as if he was going to surrender but puts his hand back on the steer wheel and drives the vehicle forward. at that point one. officers fires three shots. >> the shots strike the windshield. one hits the driver in the arm. the incident about a half mile away at swede and the truck driver backed into one parked car and neighbor, thomas, one who talked to the driver. >> told the guy get the

insurance, stop blocking traffic. >> and he crunched a second car, this black sedan. >> we told him to stop again and he floored it and popped the car in the air and busted out the back window. >> the window is gone? >> the whole back window. and he takes off. no stop sign or red lights, keeps going. >> they chased him down the street until he turned right on lafayette. facing a deadend he drove over and crushed this guard rail, finally stopping at main and marquette. and shaking her head, the sedan belonging and >> and that car and my daughter's car was hit and now this car. >> not a good place from cars. >> i am ready to move from here. it's the truth. >> and again, a driver in this incident, a 46-year-old man from

we're prepared. >> mayor nutter and the emergency response team say they are doing all they can to prepare for ebola. the health department says they are following all recommendation from the centers for disease control and they say all hospitals in the city have taken all necessary steps to protect the public and their staffs. >> all hospital emergency departments should have the capacity and be prepared to safely evaluate a patient who is suspected of having ebola. >> the fire department says it has ordered another 1,000 personal protection suits. and it says firefighters are being trained to use them. >> infection control kits include fluent-resistant gowns hats, masks, foot and hand covers, sanitizers. >> they want to use the fully-incaps lated class b body

someone will come forward with information. fire destroyed an s.u.v. on interstate 95 this morning, flames erupted in the engine of the vehicle around 2:30 this morning in the southbound lanes near stewart avenue. officials say it all started with the engine overheating, but thankfully no one hurt here. a man robbed a woman as she got money out of an a.t.m. in old city. surveillance cameras rolling around 1:45 in the afternoon october 9th at 400 market street. the police say the suspect came up behind the victim simulating he had a gun. he said he would shoot the woman if she didn't give him money. the suspect got away with an unknown amount of cash. if you know the man in the video you are urged to call 215-686-tips. the philadelphia state trooper who survived an ambush in the poconos is released from the hospital. trooper alex douglass moved by police he escort moved to anoth

despite how it looks. all three passengers survived this plane crash near big bear lake, california. the plane went down before 2:00 yesterday afternoon into the rugged, heavily-wooded hillside. three people on board the plane were hoisted into a health and flown to nearby hospitals. first responders say it is nothing short of a miracle that all of them survived. it was a historic sight in the skies today. workers scaled the iconic arch since the first time it was constructed in 1965. going up the north side to take

from saturday into sunday, and turns very unsettled next week. looking at double scan live it is beautiful out there this afternoon. we scan skip past it with a few clouds upstairs. the numbers, above average, 71. 72 in philadelphia. and at the shore, temperatures in the upper 60s. a little cooler with the sea breeze kicking in with the ocean temperature of 68. we have the pinwheeling low off to the north, that's remaining there for now. but eventually that low, which pushed the cold front through with the heavier rain just say 18 to 24 hours ago, will spin a couple more fronts through as it rotates around the low. and tomorrow morning, it will come through dry, some morning sun, and then afternoon clouds arrive. still very mild at 68 degrees, but there will be a secondary trough access behind the cold front in the afternoon, that's what will bring the clouds and kick up the wind later on saturday afternoon, saturday
