we are part of the seattle-tacoma bellevue market. seattle is about 30 miles north of tacoma. and to come is different from seattle for a few reasons. seattle has a college degree acquisition rate of about 35, 37% to ours is a half of that. .com is a more blue-collar city. with a military base our midst else we are a city of about 200,000 people. to come is different from seattle. we also have a public school system of 29,000 students, and 61% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch. i will give you a profile of a city. it's a great city. it's a diverse city. it's a wonderful place to live. it's my hometown edge of the comeback to live there instead of seattle for very good reasons. but there are some challenges that we have the very meaning to our city. when i look at the four sectors that important to our city, we look at for them. aerospace, boeing is a big giant in her backyard and we have a manufacturing facility in tacoma. we also provide a lot of suppliers for blowing. health care is very important. i.t. and clean water. we'll focus today on health care. go to

some areas got more than that, some areas got up to a foot near the south of tacoma to olympia. interstate i-5 near seattle and portland will be a rough drive. and the storm system hasn't ended. there's another slug of moisture raking all of oregon. the winds aren't quite as strong as yesterday, but we are just socked in with the warmer air mass moving in. a lot of the snow is being washed away in the greater portland area. the higher terrain is still getting significant snow out of this. the rainfall totals over the next 48 hours, very impressive. look at this. the reds here, that's as much as three to four to five inches of rain for the california/oregon coastline. that's why we'll be dealing with the flooding problems. most of the snow will be in the with temperatures there plenty cold for it. seattle on the cold side with snow showers. very stormy weather pattern, lynn, right into the weekend it looks like. a lot of people have their eyes on the football game in san francisco, too. outdoors. >> i'm sure we'll hear about that coming up later. bill, thanks so much. coming up,

we've gotten up to 32 at the seattle-tacoma airport. throughout the morning t will finally improve ever so slightly. we think later today temperatures will jump up into the 40s. that will quickly improve the roads and allow the power crews to get things back online. as we say that, heavy rain is on the way once again. this is a very active weather pattern. a storm today and another one for sunday in the west. this is a much warmer scenario than the last one. we're going to expect heavy rains in northern california. the northern sierra is going to deal with heavy rain. higher elevations will get the snow. eventually, once the warm front clears, we will get that warm air into seattle and things will dramatically improve late today. this morning, still be very careful. i know school is cancelled in get rid of the ice on the trees and power lines. a lot of my weather colleagues are, you know, have had a rough go over the last couple days up there. >> it happens. >> it does. it's been one of the toughest places in the country to forecast. >>
