storm still well off the coast, but a lot of this will be working its way across the bay area. now, we are also going to see the rain picking up. here we are at 11:00, and there's good coverage of at least light showers. but then the heavier rain developing during the afternoon, and that could be moving into the peninsula, as well as the south bay, and continuing off and on throughout the weekend. i'll have more on that in just a few minutes. it seems like a pretty good drive right now. >> yeah, maybe that's wishful thinking. look at the bay bridge toll plaza, very light, as you would imagine. no real issues. we do have some slower sensors that show up on 780, but also we have the green highlighting, little patches scattered around the bay. so there is an incoming storm, incoming weather changes here, i guess, maybe some damp roadways along the coast. nothing major. 280 and 101 along the peninsula, the south bay and the tri-valley moving smoothly, your travel times are great out of the altamont. developing in san francisco, a deadly shooting outside the

>> one east bay couple decided to take their fertility journey overseas. "today in the bay"'s ginger conejero saab is live for us in san francisco. i love to hear this. that family, the parents, they say everything they did totally worth it. >> reporter: absolutely. good morning, marcus and kris. you know, the world health organization says one out of six adults experience infertility. that's over 17% of the adult population. and the journey of infertility can be taxing and it can be very expensive, especially here in the bay area, which is why one east bay couple took a leap of faith and took their infertility journey overseas. being a mom was something she always envisioned, until it came time to try. >> she saw something in the ultrasound she wasn't expecting to see, and that was some sort of mass that was inside my uterus. >> reporter: fortunately, the mass was benign, but it did mean that jannah's vision of how she

would become a mom would change. >> i just cried and wept because i was bracing myself for the journey that i was about to embark on and what it meant. >> reporter: it meant at least three cycles of in vitro fertilization, which costs around $35,000 a cycle, quickly adding up to over $100,000 for her and her husband, for just a 25% chance of success. >> it's huge. it's unbelievable, the undertaking. >> i remember eli asking me, what are you willing to risk to get there, to take this chance to try to have our kid? and i just told him, i'm willing to risk all of it, like i was willing to sell our house and just try. >> reporter: that's when the couple went to work. they researched, found online support groups, and found an answer overseas at a fraction of the price.

dr. skinner is one of jannah's doctors at barbados fertility clinic. >> going to a foreign country that we frankly didn't know a lot about and medical standards that we were, you know, ignorant of, it was definitely a gamble. >> an independent health care accreditation body comes in as a reassurance, that we go through the same rigorous process of safety and checks that a u.s. hospital goes through. >> i just held on to the idea to stay calm, that maybe my family was going to form, no matter what. >> reporter: and that it did. jannah and eli waited the news they were waiting over a year to hear, they were going to be parents. >> we got four eggs and he was the egg that made it with a fresh transfer, against all odds. >> reporter: they have named their 2 1/2 year old son lev, meaning lionheart in russian. his middle name, ocean, is a nod

we are going to have the winter storm warning starting at 11:00 and it continues until 5:00 p.m. sunday, so basically all weekend long it's going to be snowing and there may be times of low visibility with up to 30 inches of snow for some of the ridges. most of the sierra getting about 8 to 18 inches of snow. it's also going to be windy and just plan on there being delays if you're not heading up to the area very early. and so once again, we're going to see the snow continue throughout the weekend. in palisades we are going to see temperatures just above freezing for the afternoon. so maybe you want to keep it a little closer to home. there will be treasure fest on treasure island. now, unfortunately, there will be the chance of thunderstorms as we go throughout the day, and that goes on until 5:00. so the later in the day you wait, the higher the chance you'll have of some of that rain coming in. the same in belmont for the egg adventure hunt. this is going to be a pretty big event going on. there's a lot of egg hunts around the bay area, so we're looking at at least the small break in the morning as it
